New Cynical Cinema reviews

All new releases today

Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past - It's a Matthew McConaughey movie. Ergo, it's really, really bad.

Easy Virtue - It's clever, and has some very funny moments, and Colin Firth is terrific. But Jessica Biel is all wrong for the role of the star.

The Very First Alvin Show - The first ever Alvin And the Chipmunks episode, from 1961. How did this show ever take off?

Alvin and the Chipmunks Go To The Movies: Star Wreck - They confuse Star Wars and Star Trek in the very first scene. It goes downhill from there.

The Silence - A really well made movie from Australia with a really awful script. Stylish, but bad.

Mitch Fatel Is Magical - Mitch Fatel talks about sex and women for an hour. It's really funny and good for 55 minutes.

Ghost Whisperer Season Four - Jennifer Love Hewitt is on my list of Top Five Women Whose Bath Water I Would Drink. I have no idea what her show's about.

Brotherhood Final Season - I'm pretty sour that this excellent show was canceled after three seasons. It means there's a pretty weak wrap-up to the whole thing. But awesome nonetheless.

Star Trek Original Series Season Two Blu-Ray - You have to make a pretty impressive Blu-Ray edition to satisfy the techno-geeks who love their Star Trek. Thankfully, they have.

CSI Season Nine - Grissom is gone. Sara is gone. Warrick is dead. I guess Gary Dourdan burned more bridges than Jorja Fox and William Petersen. Laurence Fishburne is here now. That's positive.
